KROSSFIRE

Description – The crossword puzzle is the Round 1 of this event. The top 10 entries of this round secure a position to take part in the extempore. In the Round 2 which is the extempore round, the teams will be given random numbers which correspond to a certain word in their crossword. Only one member of the team has to pitch or speak about that word for 5 minutes. The panelists will judge the 10 speakers based on their relevance, aptness, fluency and coherence to the topic.

Rules for crossword + extempore (KROSSFIRE):

  1. The competition consists of two online rounds – one is a crossword challenge and the other being an extempore
  2. Participation in team is mandatory – minimum members 2 and maximum members
  3. The teams need to furnish the email id and contact number in the Google form floated by the organizers.
  4. The Crossword puzzle will be sent to the respective teams in their mail id at the start of the event.
  5. The time limit to solve the puzzle will be 45
  6. The first 10 correct entries of the crossword will be considered for the next
  7. In the next round, the participant will be given a random number which would be their cue to the
  8. The participants will have to speak on that word/scientific word for 5 minutes. Exceeding time limit could fetch the team negative

PERFECT PITCHING

Description: The event is based on the similar concept lines of an idea-a-thon,  where problem statements of different genres of biotechnology will be provided to the participants. Participants will be given 24 hours to think of a probable solution to the same. Also, participants will have to prepare a PowerPoint presentation of maximum 9-10 slides where they would be addressing the solution via different case studies and supporting them with feasible hypotheses. Each team will be given 5 minutes to pitch.

TEAM SIZE: Minimum 2, Maximum 4 members

Rules for Perfect Pitching:

  1. Broad spectrum topics related to innovation, industry or research regarding biotechnology will be provided as problem statements.
  2. Each team will randomly choose a number in between 1 to 10 which corresponds to a problem
  3. All the problem statements will be floated online once the random selection of numbers is done.
  4. The participants make a PowerPoint presentation of their proposed and probable solution. Each team will be allotted 5 minutes to pitch and 2 minutes for the Q/A session with the judges.
  5. All the teams mandatorily have to submit their presentations prior to their event to the organizing
  6. All the team members have to join the online meeting and all the event proceedings will be held online.
  7. Preliminary round (Questionnaire) is subject to the participation
